 Rating: - Who Cut the Cheese? I Did! I Did!!This cheese plane is a real complement to a well equiped kitchen. I have used wire type cheese slicers in the past that work well - if they have a guide roller, especially an adjustable guide roller. This "plane" is a completely different animal. It will cut thin, @1mm thick slices easily. You can try to cut thicker or thinner, but it becomes difficult to control. There are no adjustments to make. It is very sharp (be careful washing it), so it cuts with just a minor effort. The handle is fairly large in diameter and thicker in the center section, which makes it easier to grip while pulling it accross the cheese. It may look great, but for entertaining, I think I'll stick to the wire slicers. They can be run with one hand in a downward motion, this plane requires a firm grip on the cheese and a lateral motion. I doubt that every guest will done a plastic glove before grabbing your cheese; not very sanitary when you think about where people's fingers may have been since they were last washed. For prep work in the kitchen, it will work fine. As a serving spatuala tool, it will work fine. It is a quality product that will serve you well when properly used.
