Average Rating: 4.48 out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great insulation, even brews a nice cup of tea!
This is a great product- leak proof with amazing heat/cold retention. For tea drinkers, I just thought I'd add a better description of how the tea lid works. It is actually not a strainer for leaving the tea leaves in the cup (the tea would be so bitter!), but an ingenious way of brewing tea! You put hot water in the cup, then screw on the strainer, add the loose tea leaves, screw the top lid on, and turn the cup upside down for a quick brew! (Since it is leak-proof, you actually can turn the cup upside down easily) After brewing, you just turn it right side up and replace the strainer holding the spent leaves with the sipping lid, and voila- a quick and pretty decent cup of tea! Highly recommended.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - $ave your ca$h and buy a bigger mug without the tea brewer
First off, I agree with all the comments about the mug's nice ergonomic shape, its ability to keep drinks piping hot for hours, and its spill-proof-ness.

But, the title of my review says it all - instead of paying thirty dollars for an 11-oz mug, why not get an 18-oz mug for twenty five (or even a 14-oz for twenty bucks)? All are made by Nissan, with the same durability, ability to retain heat, and good looks. The difference in this mug is the third basket, the tea brewer, which has a mesh that is WAAAAY too coarse. This is a serious problem, since I absolutely detest leaves and other remnants in my tea when I drink it. Herbal or spiced teas (e.g. Chai) are out of the question, and even a basic large-leaf tea like Darjeeling escapes through the mesh (and also gets stuck in it, which makes it a pain to clean).

Instead, I would suggest buying Nissan's larger 18-oz (or 14-oz) mug, and with the five (or ten) bucks you save, purchase a fine-mesh brew basket, available on amazon.com (ASIN# B0000CFLAP). Remember, you have to remove the built-in brew basket from this mug to fit the sipping lid, so there's no extra effort in removing a fine-mesh, easily washable brew basket instead.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good Looking, easy to cary but...
Updated on 04-18-2004. Go to the bottom after the double line for new info:

I bought this product a couple of months ago.

Pros:
1) Good looking
2) Very solid design
3) Spill proof for the most part
4) Keeps drinks hot for hours
5) Very dent resistant
6) Fits well everywhere

Cons:
1) At times it does spill - am not sure if I got a defective mug
2) Smells stick easily to the plastic. Like if you leave coffee in there for 6 to 8 hours, you will find that the coffee smell will stick to it - it goes away after you wash it with a dish washing detergent but then the detergent smell sticks to it
3) No easy way to way to clean the bottom of the mug as it is really narrow

After some time, the mug did loose its spill-proof ability - I am assuming that I might have a defective piece or maybe it does not like being washed in dish washers.

Yet I gave it a four star rating is because I do believe that Nissan makes great products and their build quality is excellent so I don't want to doubt their quality as yet because of one maybe faulty product.

Also Amazons great customer service is helping me take a second look at the mug to make sure that I don't get stuck with a defective piece.

I have a new one on order; I will write another review once I get it and use it.

=================================================================
It seems like dishwasher was the issue. The rubber rings on it are delicate and they seemed to get messed up if you put them in the dish washer. The leak proof abilty goes away if not hand washed. The plastic yet does pick up on the smell of the liquid you put into the Traveler but it seems better resistant than my last one - i am assuming that the dish washer might have been to balme on this too.
