A pleasure to use: great heat distribution, nice looks and it cleans easily. It's actually inspiring better food! A piece of advice, though. Handle it almost with the care you would use on non-stick surfaces, and it will reward you with easy-cleaning interior for years (mine is 2-years old, and heavily used). Scratch the coating on top of the enamel and food will start to stick to it, even though the scratches won't be visible. If food seems stuck to the surface (after a good roast in the oven), let it soak a bit and stuff comes out. Just don't try scrubbing it too hard. Another tidbit: the upper lip is not coated (the cast iron is exposed), and it may show rust if left wet for too long. Season that edge with a bit of oil, as with any other cast iron pan, and this won;t be a problem anymore. Or simply make it a habit of drying it quickly after use.

Rating: - Creuset Casseroles are the Best
The single best pots for doing rich chicken dishes and the like. Conducts heat perfectly, well-balanced and very easly to clean. So many great meals have emerged from these pots that I tend to cook more frequently, especially the more slow-cooking or complex dishes.

I inheirited one of these pots and then bought another. Since then I have excused all similar imitations from the kitchen.

If I had to equipt my kitchen with 3 cooking pots/pans, this would come right after the skillet and sauce pan.

As a child, my mom had a "flame" colored pot just like this and it left a permanent mark on me and my five siblings.

Good ol' mom has had it for 30 years, and still uses it all the time. Having progressed into a professional cook and restaurant owner, I now realize that what makes this pot so great is the fact that the cast iron really gives equal distribution of the heat. No matter how you use it, it consistently does the exact same thing in cooking everything evenly. In addition, the enamel covering promotes easy clean up to boot.

Thus, this is a great quality item and I can't wait to get one myself. Just hope my food turns out as good as Mom's - but somehow I doubt it. Moms food is always the best (no matter who your mom is). Sigh.
