I have owned three Rowenta irons over the past 12 years. The oldest of the three (12 years old) has been dropped or knocked of the ironing table numerous times by my teenagers. Miraculously, it still works. The stainless steel air glide bottom with extra steam jets help to take a lot of the work out of ironing. The iron's weight is a plus in eliminating repeated motion over the same area to remove wrinkles and dry spray starch. The automatic shutoff is ideal for busy family members. It costs just a little more to go first class.

This is really an extraordinary iron! I have been using my wife's old GE iron for years and dreaded taking on a load of dress shirts. After grumblng to myself, I read about this iron, checked it out in Consumer Reports and decided to see if it was as good as people claimed. It really is worth every penny. It puts out more steam than I have ever seen -- which makes the large water tank a blessing. The sole plate never sticks, even when I use too much spray starch. With such a high wattage, it heats up almost immediately. I recommend that you get the Rowenta hot iron cleaning kit. This iron is a real beauty; it has made ironing a pleasure. That pile of dress shirts gets done easily. This iron really proves the old saying about having the right tool for a job -- it is a beaut!

I didn't realize just how useless my old iron was until I got this one. Over the years I've normally looked for whatever was on sale, rather than a particular brand. Then the Rowenta showed up on the Gold Box. Even on sale it was more than I'd ever paid before, but it has proved well worth the money. I hate ironing, but at least with this one it is heavy enough to do the job, glides easily, and steams beautifully. Very glad I took the offer!
