I originally gave this pot a rating of 1 star but would like to change it to 5 stars. After a very minor correction, the Bodum-3000 now makes an excellent & rich cup of coffee. I had originally complained about its producing a thin, weak brew but have since discovered that this was due to the silicon band preventing contact with the heating base. It took 2 seconds to remove this band and the result is that the brewing process was lengthened by a couple of minutes. I could immediately taste the difference--what was once dishwater became GREAT coffee. Bodum contacted me by email & was extremely helpful, offering to do whatever it takes to satisfy me. So, I now enthusiastically recommend the Bodum Santos 3000, both for the wonderful coffee & customer service!

Rating: - Cool Clear Bodum Makes Hot Coffee
This machine makes fantastic coffee in addition to meeting my requirement of looking good in my open kitchen. It is simple to use and comes with a video in case you are one of those people who don't read care and use instructions. My husband really appreciates the timer function so that his coffee is ready when he gets up in the morning. We like fairly strong coffee, so we use 1 rounded coffeemeasure per cup. I appreciate being able to put everything but the power base and the jug in the dishwasher. After using the coffeemaker for several months, I bought a sponge brush that fits inside the jug and makes cleaning much easier.

After only 6 months of use, the cover of the funnel broke (perhaps a result of putting in the dishwasher); so I am downgrading my original rating. At first the cover seemed very difficult to press into the funnel, but then got easier. Guess it was cracking at that point. This machine has made the best coffee I have ever had, so I will replace the cover even if it is not covered by the warranty. I will wash the cover and funnel by hand from now on!

Rating: - with care you can make great coffee
I like coffee that is strong but not bitter. We bought the Cuisinart Grind n Brew and sent it back immediately because it produced coffee like dishwater. Husband wanted a French press but realized that neither one of us was going to use one in the morning. So...we decided to try this Bodum Santos with timer. If you like full-bodied coffee, you will use about twice as much coffee as you do with a drip pot; the measure Bodum provides is accurate.

It takes presence of mind to use this machine. I can see why people end up with the thing exploding and whatnot, because you need to remember to put together each and every part of the machine. For whatever reason, I don't find it boring (as I do making drip coffee). It's a fun machine. And the coffee is delicious. I love it. Very happy.
