Rating: - Handy Gizmo "can" work well in your kitchen
We got this gadget three months ago because my wife has limited right hand grasp and can't use a manual can opener. Pros: Our Gizmo has opened many a can since, from small to large. The trick for us is to position the Gizmo on larger cans, turn it on and let it "walk" itself around- smaller cans may have to be held. The charge has lasted for weeks on the average. Cons: Though the blade looks rather cheesy, it has done well so far... the only defect we have noticed is the Gizmo and associated charger's size- they are bulky and don't fit easily into normal kitchen drawers (ergo, four stars). Nonetheless, it is an easy decision for us- the Gizmo stays!

A year-plus later (May 2004,) this Gizmo still works like new, with at least daily use. I like it, and my wife is very pleased with it's easy-to-use functionality and its ergonomic fit in her hand. (Tip: When it begins to run down, we turn it on until it is fully discharged before putting it on its charging base - with NiCd batteries, this will prevent your battery form developing a "false memory" and not charge fully.)

Rating: - horay for Gizmo
We got Gizmo as a gift over a year ago. I have limited use of my hands and it has been a wonderful help in the kitchen. The only reason I gave it 4 stars out of 5 is because it can be a little awkward to get it fully seated in the charger. It works great on large coffee cans. It "walks" itself completely around the rim. It is nice not to have to hang a large can off the counter to get it to fit in a traditional electric can opener. I have been extremely satisfied with our Gizmo.

Rating: - Poor Quality
At first, this can opener was wonderful. Having two dogs and about a zillion cans to open each month, I was happy to have such an easy and accesible tool. But it kept breaking! The magnetic part of our gizmo kept getting warped and wouldn't hold onto the cans anymore. We tried exchanging them twice but it kept happening and now my gizmo resides in the dump.
