![]() Rating: - Versatile and much more useful than a slow cookerI have a kitchen with very little counter space so I have to be selective about the appliances I use. I purchased the Nesco 6-quart roaster to serve as a slow cooker and roaster. Since my purchase, I've used my roaster almost daily and I love the nonstick liner for ease of clean-up. Some of things I have cooked in the roaster include soups, stews, roast chicken, steamed brown bread and have made baked potatoes. All have turned out well. Rating: - Great roaster for many uses!Like its 18 qt. big brother, this Nesco roaster is great not only for making moist beef roasts, but also for heating large servings of baked beans, hot potato salad, and multitude of other items. The heating is even and it self-bastes the roast as it cooks, leaving the worry out of making a dry beef or pork roast. These roasters are so common in my family, that I grew up thinking that everyone had one. They are a common sight at family reunions and church functions, and for good reason. Highly recommended, and it makes a great wedding gift as well. Rating: - buy this!I had my first Nesco roaster for 18 years before I broke the glass lid. Now the lids are metal thank goodness. This cooker allows you to roast chicken, cook over a gallon of chili or soup and then vary the temp to perfection unlike the slow cookers with low or high only. We have several for our big get-togethers and it keeps me out of the kitchen trying to keep the food warmed up but not burned. Before use you MUST turn it on to "cure". I do it outside on the covered porch. No other crockpot compares. My friends and family all buy this one after they see mine. One of the FEW things I've bought that exceeded my expectations. Greatest wedding gift I got and give to others.
