I am so surprised by the negative reviews of this product. We've had this waffler for a year now and have used it A LOT. I'd estimate 75 times- usually once or twice a week. We've never had a problem with sticking and the waffler is going strong. The waffles turn out great, every time.

One thing to consider, waffles require you to use oil in the batter. It's what gives them the nice crispy golden brown outside, and I imagine it helps with the sticking too. Now, I've never encountered a waffle recipe that doesn't call for oil, but it makes me wonder if those who have problem with sticking are simply using pancake batter???

We tried other wafflers with our regular batter recipe and the results were awful- heavy and dense. This waffler makes a nice light waffle. The selector really works to get the desired done-ness, it's a great feature and we've found the results to be very reliable.

In short, we think this is a great product. Our experience with other wafflers indicates they're not all created equal, and this one is quite a good model. We like ours so much we've completely stopped making pancakes!

Rating: - No More Waffles
This was the first waffle maker I owned, a gift from my husband bought at a high-end kitchen specialty shop. I loved it, especially when using my recipe for "Wonderful Waffles," using beaten egg whites folded into the batter. Only a couple of times did I experience sticking. Most of the time the waffles were perfect. A few days ago my daughter asked for waffles for dinner, and I pulled my iron out. IT HAD DIED. It just did not heat any longer. Now I'm seeking another iron and wondering how to give mine a decent burial.

I bought this iron in April of 2003 and it broke yesterday (June 2004). I was in the middle of eating breakfast and the light just turned off and the iron won't work anymore. I was so mad that I got a hammer out of the closet and hit the machine a few times. DON'T BUY THIS WAFFLE MAKER! The price is nice and I did enjoy it - but I don't intend on buying a waffle maker every year. It was so disappointing and I'm very surprised that a cuisinart product would quit so soon after I bought it. I'm going to buy a higher quality machine.
