Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Good Idea, but Doesn't Live Up to the Promise
My local Target had this model on clearance for 30% off list price. Having a low resistance to both gadgets and bargains, I bought it on a whim.

It's a decent microwave, but a poor toaster and even poorer toaster oven. The oven has a stationary heating coil at the top and two motorized heating coils at the side that "swing out" when heating is needed and stay at the sides of the oven walls when they are not used (when only microwaving.) While this is high tech, it makes for limited positioning of the oven rack. Basically, you end up with about three inches of clearance between the baking rack and top coil. That's it...so forget about baking anything that isn't flat like a sheet of cookies.

When I made toast, it came out perfect on the top and undone on the bottom. The rack is closer to the top coil than the bottom and there's no way to adjust it. I tried three times to make batches of those "break and bake" cookies that are popular now. Every time they came out unevenly cooked. The oven doesn't seem to heat evenly from front to back either.

I was hoping to save space by getting three appliances in one. I ended up using it just as a microwave, and went back to my toaster and wall oven for any baking. The unit is quite a bit bigger than the midsized microwave oven it replaced, so in the end I ended up losing a little space. On the plus side, the unit has a nice porcelain interior and seems better constructed than the typical microwave.

This is a good idea, poorly executed. I wouldn't recommend this product, even at the clearance price I paid.

Update: The reviewer from Miami who claims that all that is needed to get more baking space is to "simply move the rack to the lower position" has obviously never tried it. That's what I thought too, until I tried it and found that the motorized coils come down almost on top of it, making the lower rack position useless for baking (it serves only as a crumb tray when toasting.)

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - expensive popcorn maker
I did not purchase this at Target. I wanted the best of both worlds, and extra counter space. The Samsung juts away from the rear with an ugly 4 inches of venting. The drop down door collects every crumb and is hard to wipe out. Toasting bread items evenly is impossible. It takes forever on the hightest setting and no matter where the bread is placed toasts only one side. Replacing and removing racks , crumb trays etc is annoying. But must be done to microwave. Needless to say...I returned this item and don't recommend it. It's best feature is a reminder beep so you don't forget food is left in after cooking.

    Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - getting what I hoped for...NOT
I have only begun readin people's reviews. Bad for me if I had looked a review about this before I bought it well....I was just so excited and caught up in the idea that I didn't think it would be anything but wonderful. I just didn't see how I could go wrong, after all I have such limited space and you know the rest. Luckily for me, I do in fact still have both my old microwave and toaster oven, and they have both forgiven me, lol.
