![]() Rating: - Perfect starter setThis set is perfect for starting a new kitchen. Some would say that there are better, but for the price, it can't be beat. When we moved into our new apartment, we did not have time or money to buy one gourmet knife at a time, much less one utensil at a time. So this was great. The knives are sharp and the measuring tools are accurate and the plastic utensils don't scrape or scratch non-stick pots and pans. It is perfect for everyday use. The knife set comes with a sharpener, so you can sharpen the flat blade knives. I would recommend hand washing and drying the knives since one of ours has rust spots from when water sat on the blade overnight. The plastic utensils come with every type you can imagine one would need. I only had to buy a wooden spoon. We had a chef friend cook for us and he thought the knives were fine! Rating: - long term userI have used a set of Sabatier Precision knives purchased (for home use) here on Amazon about a year and a half ago. I use them daily, and I use the hard. They have held up very well. My advice; 1) DO NOT put these knives in the dishwasher, they're carbon steel, and they will rust dispite the fact they are advertised as "stainless". (remove the rust with a scotch bright pad as ASAP and they will be fine). And, 2) get a good quality "V" type sharpener. If you do these two simple things these knives will give you very good service. Some of the reviews would lead you to think these knives are the worst product ever produced, I disagree. Although these are not "world class" knives, they are very good budget knives. If you maintain them properly they will cut fine and last for years. I have worked In many restaurant kitchens, and also as a restaurant inspector, I have handeled a lot of knives, and in my opinion these are good "budget" knives, most likely the best you will find at this price. Rating: - Not bad for the MoneyThe set arrived in the time estimated. The knives do require some sharpening upon arrival. That is no problem with the sharpener that comes with the set. A few strokes and they were ready. They felt comfortable and well balanced. I am not a professional chef so I don't use them ten hours a day. I do cook most of the time and they feel comfortable. By no mean are they "top quality", but with the accessories that come with them you can't beat the price. I do know about knife blades and from the looks of them they will hold an edge as long as your not cutting cans with them. I will recommend them to somebody looking for a good starter set of knives.
