![]() Rating: - Euro-Styled, Coffee Maker: Perfect For 1-2 EZ Fresh ServingsAs part of Philips pre-launch for the Senseo Single Serve Coffee Machine, I recieved a medium blue version, (also comes in white and black), including some of the delicious tasting, fresh single serve ground coffee pods, from the 250 year old, top line European coffee house, Douwe Egberts. First off, this attractive, solid-feeling but lightweight model is a cinch to put together. Made from quality hard plastic and aluminum parts, there is no glass carafe to risk breaking-instead, a translucent curvy water reservoir fits on the back of the unit. Easily removed and re-seated, this reservoir needs to be filled once to the clearly marked 'max' line, (2 1/2 cups, 600ml), then run through the system, (plug in the polarized, 2 prong cord then press the centered start button), taking care to position a small pan to catch the water as it comes out the pour spout above. Now you are ready to brew your first 1-2 cups of coffee. You can use 1 or 2 cofee 'pods' for this purpose. Each will make 4 ounces of super rich, European-style coffee, and the machine delivers that lovely bit of creama as the coup de grace. For an 8 ounce mug-more of what we Americans would expect in a single cup of java-use 2 pods, selecting the double rather than single filter cup included, and select the 1 Cup button. The intregal heating element brings your fresh cool water to the perfect temperature, the center button stops flashing, to let you know the system is ready to deliver, and you press the 1 or 2 cup indicator, position your cup and get ready to enjoy some of the freshest, most robust and utterly clean joe you've had in many a moon! I especially liked the easy clean features. You remove your metallic coffee filter holder by its stay cool plastic handle, dump the self-contained pod(s) in the trash, then rinse said holder with cool water and you are good to go again. From a cold start, the water takes 30-60 seconds to heat for 1-2 Cups respectively, then another 30 seconds to deliver your coffee. With a total fill/brew/clean cycle of 2 minutes flat I am completely sold on this solid, clever, time-saving product backed with a welcomed 2 Year warranty. Rating: - Very good at what it does...The senseo is a rather unique concept in coffee machines. As a coffee lover, I figured I'd give it a try. Out of the box, it was easy to set up. Within 10 minutes I was making my first cup. I was pleased with the creamy head of foam that the machine produces atop the cup, reminiscent of an espresso drink. It was refreshing to get that fresh-brewed coffee smell so quickly with so little effort. The taste? While not the finest cup of coffee I've had, it was more than satisfying. It's hard to get good coffee around these parts on my way to work at 6:30am. I tried all 3 roasts (I'm not a decaf fan) and liked the medium roast the best. I was a little disappointed that the pods only come in "Mild", "medium" and "dark"... but I'm sure someone will come out with more variteies eventually. The good: -Quick Brewing, I can have a cup ready in about a minute. The Bad: -Coffee sometimes comes out less-than-piping-hot Overall, a very good product. Rating: - This machine rocks! This machine is by far the best one on the market and the price is absolutely incredible. You can use any pod in this machine - even ones made for other machines.
