I haven't had a chance to cook in the thing, but since there are some surprises in the box, I thought I'd pass those on.<br /> <br /> Surprise 1: I don't know how other "programmable" slow cookers work, but the programming is very limited here. You set whether it's going to be "low" or "hot" by the number of hours you punch in, i.e. 1-6 hours the pot is ONLY on the "hot" setting, 7-10 hours the pot is ONLY on the "low" setting. And after the number of hours have expired it moves to a "warm" setting.<br /> <br /> Surprise 2: What are the four floppy plastic tabs for in the base unit? Maybe acting as a cushion between the base and the crock?<br /> <br /> Surprise 3: The 25 recipe book is pretty useless and refers to recipes with 4 qt crocks and with cooking times you can't automatically do with this appliance.<br /> <br /> Otherwise, looks nice, outside stays cool-ish, and if I can find some recipes that use the rack and the loaf pan, I'll be happy.
